Is letter writing a dying art?
Have letters from young people been replaced by texts, tweets or e-mails?
Shetlanders have a long tradition of writing letters on all manner of topics to the local newspaper and, more recently, to the local news website. We think it would be a shame if we lost the art of expressing ourselves in the written word. And we think today's young Shetlanders are just as good at putting their thoughts in writing as the older generation.
Our challenge for the young people of Shetland is to write a letter to an imaginary pen pal explaining how you feel about Viking Energy's plans for a wind farm on Shetland. For it, against it, still making up your mind, putting it down on paper might help crystallise your thoughts.
Write your letter, in no more than 500 words, and send it to:
Lisa Ward
Viking Energy
The Gutters' Hut
North Ness Business Park
Lerwick
Shetland

If you prefer, you can upload the letter below. Please remember to include your name, address, age and contact details (e-mail address and telephone number).
You can also email your entries to lisa.ward@vikingenergy.co.uk
