Development Process
The Viking Windfarm must go through a development stage before any construction can be instigated. This will include:
- Establishing the joint venture
- Creating initial design concepts
- Coordinating leases
- Undertaking wind studies
- Undertaking studies to inform the Environmental Impact Assessment
- Undertaking public and targeted consultation
- Establishing a viable windfarm design
- Advancing a connection agreement with National Grid and other relevant agencies
- Submitting a planning application
The timescale estimate for these works is more than three years. Wind and bird studies were started on site in 2003 and a planning application should be made in late 2006.
