‘The Big Hop Trail’

Viking Wind Farm and SSE Renewables are proud to be a sponsor of the Clan Cancer Support’s ‘The Big Hop Trail’ event which coincides with the organisations 40th Anniversary.

Clan, the north east’s leading cancer support charity, has partnered with Wild in Art to bring a new art trail to the north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland between July and September 2023, with 40 hare sculptures designed and decorated by artists from across the country being the focal point to celebrate the charity’s commitment to supporting people affected by cancer.

SSE Renewables’ very own six-foot hare sculpture, named ‘Dark Skies’, can be found on Victoria Pier in Lerwick and has been designed and decorated by Anne-Marie Byrne a Suffolk based artist. The hare will be auctioned off in Aberdeen on September 18^th to help raise money for the charity.

As part of the sponsorship package, local Shetland School, Baltasound Junior High School, has received an education pack for students to use in class and have also been gifted a smaller decorated hare.
