Viking Energy Archive
This Archive contains around 700 detailed documents and illustrations relating to the planning of Viking Wind Farm, all of which are fully searchable using the website's Google Custom Search box.
Recently, Viking Energy had three planning applications approved by Shetland Islands Council. These were for two enlarged temporary construction compounds and a new Sandwater Road.
Other Archive materials relate mainly to older planning applications approved by the council or the Scottish Government, including consents to build the Kergord track and to increase the maximum tip height of wind turbines.
The oldest sections contain the Environmental Impact Assessment 2009 for Viking Energy's initial application to build 150 turbines.
The following year, in response to consultation, Viking Energy removed 23 turbines, mainly from areas of deep peat or sensitive bird breeding sites, and submitted a modified Environmental Statement to build 127 turbines. It makes up the Addendum 2010 section.
