Making ready for wind power from Shetland

The UK is upgrading its electricity transmission network to be ready to carry power generated by renewables in Shetland, Orkney and the north of Scotland. The Caithness-Moray transmission link being built by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is set to be ready in 2018 and can handle up to 1200MW of electricity, including 600MW of wind power from Shetland.
