James Tulloch and Ewan Anderson are part of the Shetland Brew with a Crew group aiming to raise £2000 for The Fire Fighters Charity by walking the length of Shetland while weighed down by their 20kg breathing apparatus.
They are stopping along each of the 14 fire stations for a cuppa and visiting schools along a route stretching to 190 miles from Unst to Fair Isle. On Thursday they reached the Main Compound for the wind farm, near Sandwater, and were presented with cheques of £250 each from SSE Renewables and main contactor RJ McLeod.
Wind farm workers were on a routine safety stand-down at the time and joined in the welcoming party.
Others taking part in the “raise a brew” fundraiser in appreciation of the fire fighters and raising funds to help with the wellbeing of fire and rescue personnel are the ambulance, police, coastguard and lifeboat services.
