Viking Energy is holding an Information Day on Wednesday 12th June to outline its proposal to build three temporary construction compounds to service the wind farm site during the construction phase.
The compounds would be situated in areas near Sandwater; south of Voe and between Weisdale and Tresta. They are intended to provide space for offices, workshops, canteens, storage and parked vehicles.
Viking already has planning consent to construct compounds in the vicinity of these locations but after consultation with the supply chain it has become apparent that the design of the compounds needs to be changed.
The information day is to be held in two different public halls, starting in the Whiteness & Weisdale Public Hall from 10am to 2pm on 12th June then moving to the Voe Public Hall from 3.30pm to 8pm.
A Viking Energy spokesman said: “Everyone is welcome to drop in at one of our venues to learn about the forthcoming planning applications. We will have a team of people on hand to answer questions and take on board your views and advice about the compound plans before they are finalised.
“There will also be an update on other forthcoming wind farm-related activities, including early construction of the Kergord access track to the site of Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks’ electricity converter station.”
