Heading for the hills

Maintenance work is to be carried out on five of Viking Energy’s six met masts around the end of September.
A highly experienced mast team from Inverness along with Shetland-based contractors will inspect and repair tubular masts on Mid Kame and Scar Quilse, near Voe; Runn Hill and Flamister in Nesting and Scalla Field in Weisdale.
A sixth mast, a lattice-frame tower on Mid Field, between Tresta and Weisdale, is not part of this year’s programme.
The met masts gather wind and other weather data.
